DB Schenker has launched its new “Go for Growth” program to bolster growth in its Contract Logistics business unit.

The core of the four-year program will consist of investments in greatly standardized logistics solutions and industrial processes, in addition to notably expanding the company’s worldwide business activities. The focus of the capital expenditures will be on the automotive, consumer, electronics industries and mid-sized machine makers in defined regions. The main target countries are the USA, Germany and China. Customers will especially benefit from investments in new employees. Plans call for DB Schenker to hire up to 200 additional experts for the program.

“We’re making a clear commitment to our customers to provide them with higher quality customer care and support, stable processes, solutions and technical investments for their logistics projects,” said Dr. Detlef Trefzger (Photo), Member of the Management Board of Schenker AG responsible for Contract Logistics/SCM. “The aim of the program is to grow the company at a significantly faster pace than the market,” noted Dr. Trefzger.

Additional employees and industrial standards to boost business

One factor favoring the success of the “Go for Growth” program is the bundling together and intelligent linkage of employees’ know-how and industrial knowledge. This ensures that individual customer requirements will be met by a comprehensive reservoir of knowledge. Furthermore, up to 200 additional logistics specialists will be needed around the world to handle the project’s sales and operational tasks. “We are looking around the work for experts in business and product development, tender management, and on-site customer care and support. We are particularly interested in persons with experience in our target markets,” said Dr. Trefzger.

Another factor driving the success of the project is DB Schenker’s flexibility that enables it to better coordinate customer requirements around the world and to then transfer this know-how more effectively to other customer projects in different regions and countries. One example here is the linking together of warehouse and transport services with the Air/ Ocean Freight and Land Transport capacities in DB Schenker’s global network.
