Environmental Prize for DB Schenker Rail Logistics Specialist
skip: Environmental Prize for DB Schenker Rail Logistics SpecialistRail Logistics and Forwarding (RLF) accepted the prize for “an excellent and exemplary environmental concept.”
In 2007, BSH was considering transporting household appliances to France by truck instead of by train to cut costs. But within just six months, RLF experts had developed a convincing concept for environmentally friendly rail transportation. Goods are now picked up daily at five German BSH forwarding offices by single cars, which are then grouped into a block train in Einsiedlerhof near the French border. The BSH block trains travel overnight directly to the French town of Tournan three times a week. Last year 117 block trains made the journey.
Rail Logistics and Forwarding comprises 300 employees at 40 locations in Europe. With annual sales of almost EUR 500 million, Rail Logistics is one of Europe’s leading providers of rail-related logistics.
